ABOUT ST.CHARLES LWANGA VOCATIONAL TRAINING.
The St. Charles Lwanga vocational Training is an initiative of the Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga through their project Watoto Wa Lwanga operating in the Catholic Diocese Of Nairobi.
The vocational school was started in 2010.
The school is approved and registered as required by law by the ministry of Higher education, science and Technology under Registration no.MST/INS/14/273/S
It is accredited by the National Vocational Certificate of Education and Training (NCVET), National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and the Kenya National Examining (KNEC).The center serves as an examination center for both national Examining bodies NITA and KNEC.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
The aim of the initiative is to train young people in technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills in an effort to increase their productivity and equip them with skills to participate fully in productive activities and employment opportunities.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVIES
To address the labor market barriers/failures in particular appropriate general education, inadequate technical skills /inadequate soft/life skills and work experience required for new job entrants in the income generating activities.
TARGET GROUP
The center through its various projects such as skill up!! Seeks to train youth especially those from the slums of Kibera and aged between 15-25 years in various courses.
The center has a special focus on teenage and young mothers and girls who at risk.
Babies of the Teenage and young mother studying at the center are taken care of at our baby daycare unit.
The centre seeks to train the youth who are out of school that is drop outs,KCPE(Class 8 leavers) and KCSE(Form 4 leavers) graduates.
